Simplifying fractions
Walt: simplify fractions
During maths time I played a simplifying fractions game. If I wanted to play this game then I had to know my times tables. To complete this I used multiplication. I enjoyed playing this game because it had different problems. Playing the game was easy for me because I knew my times tables. Next time I want to learn how to change improper fractions into mixed numbers.

Swimming sports
Today was a sunny day to do swimming sports. Many students were so competitive and each one wanted to win every race. There were many heats in swimming. Students spectators cheering for the kids in their class so they would win. I didn't swim but I did cheer for other classes, In my college there are photos of my friends and I cheering for students. Now after swimming sports Mr Hendrick's is going to take some kids to inter school swimming.

Fraction monkeys
In fraction monkey I had to put the monkeys with the fraction number with the fraction that is equal to it. I didn’t know when it will end so I just finished when the denominator came to 15. This game helped me learn equivalent fractions. It was easy for me because I know how to do equivalent fraction. I got nothing wrong in all the fractions.

Cabbage tree
For the past few days we have been studying about the Omaru Creek. We had two choices if we would paint a cabbage tree or bulrushes. I chose to paint a cabbage tree because it looks easy to make the leaves. We used the colour black to make it look like the shadow of the cabbage tree. We dyed it to look like the sun just went down I enjoyed making the cabbage.

Investigation into volleyball
This week we have been playing volleyball and our teacher told us to make a graph about our skills. The skills in volleyball was the volley, dig, severe, spike, and block the girl didn’t get to do spike so we had to estimate how many we can spike it over the rugby goal. We used the online google spreadsheet and it was kind of difficult for me to use because this was first time using a google spreadsheet.

I made my dragonfly and I liked it because the colours and the wings.Making a dragonfly was fun because looking at other kids dragonflies was a explosion of colours. I enjoyed making the dragonfly and I hope we could do it again.

Grey Main School
In room 8 we have been waiting for the students in Grey Main School to deliver their package. We as a class opened the package together and saw many facts about their class. My favourite thing about there list was the smiling face made out of clay because it was so random. We all read the postcards but they were very different from ours. I hoped they enjoyed our metaphors.

Statistical Investigation
Walt: conduct a statistical investigation.
We used google maps to determine the walking distance to 124 Apirana Avenue. This is the entrance to the Omaru Creek that we are studying. The screenshot shows the route, distance and time from my house to the creek. Furthest is Zain. So for Jolie who lives the closet it will take her 7 minutes to get to Apirana Avenue. Next, we will be calculating the mean and the median.

Softball day
Last Wednesday, 12 children got the opportunity to play in the interschool softball team and I was one of the 12 children who went on that trip. It was a new experience for me because I haven’t went to interschool softball before. I had a lot of fun and Malae got many home runs and that’s why he got player of the day. We won three games, drew one game, and lost to Sylvia park school, they played really well but the thing was that they had more boys on batting then girls.

What I accelerated in week 5
In week five I have accelerated in my maths because I have learnt how to do standard algorithm but with multiplication. I done it on IXL website and my smart score was 53 when I answered 7 questions. It stopped because I had to register first to carry on with my questions. It went back to zero because I went off the IXL website. For e.g if I do 2 x 1,012 that will equal to 2024 because 2 x 2 = 4, 2 x 0 = 0, 2 x 1 = 2, and 2 x 2 = 4, so the answer is 2024.

Being good with money
Today we learned how to be good with money Anina came into our class to talk about saving your money. In the future I want to be a nurse when I grow up so I better be wise with my money and remember to not spend it on things that I dont need in my life when I grow up. What I learnt from Anina is that never lend your money to someone who is bad with it. I hope she comes back to talk to us about being good with money and saving it too.
